"La Belle Dame" - variation with sleeves |
This variation of the "La Belle Dame" design was cut over a perfectly fitting, made-to-measure inner corset. The client required a different neckline to the original (see "Contemporary" index page) and long sleeves. Several possibilities were considered: lace sleeves, extending the patchwork effect onto the actual sleeve and a flared cuff. The chosen option fitted the arm closely and was laced at the cuff - connecting visually with the back lacing of the main gown. |
Above - from the outside, the attached corset is totally hidden.
Above - details of the gown and the various patchwork fabrics: silk dupion, embroideries and brocade with beaded guipure lace.
The various blues and grey tones of the bride's gown were reflected in the attire of the entire bridal party; the cream by her lilies.
One of the original design options; a small pouch bag, made to match; and the preliminary toile of the dress, cut over the boned corset.
